Madame Butterfly?

Hello Outlawz and Friends!  This week at Twisted Thursday, our theme is "Anything Goes With a Twist" and our Twist is "Things With Wings"  We are sponsored by the fantastic

I've used their image "Touch of Class I" to make a general greeting card:

The butterfly background is a Cricut cut from the Paper Lace cartridge. I used two of a little larger mat cut, welded together for my card base.

I tied a double bow using black sheer ribbon and black ribbon with inlaid gold thread, topped off with a pretty glittered flower from The Paper Studio.

I hope you'll join us this week at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday!

"Get Well Soon" Paper Lace card

It's Thursday and that means a new challenge at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday!  We are sponsored this week by The Outlawz!  This month's prize is a Spellbinders Nestabilities set, so you will sure want to join in!  Challenges in our Twisted Thursday group are always Anything Goes with an Optional twist!  This week the twist is "Anything Goes".

My card this week is another "made it in minutes" card, but not quite as CAS.

The card base is another cut from Cricut's Paper Lace cartridge.  I LOVE that cartridge!  I duplicated and welded the background cut to form the card.  The top layer had "Thank You" cut out of the center, so I welded a rectangle over that to make it solid in the center.  The "Get Well Soon" is also a Paper Lace cut.  The digi is the Freebie Progressive Challenge image  at The Outlaws from the February challenge.  It's a Sandi Samples image, colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  I've mounted that onto two doilie cuts from Spellbinders Dies.

I am absolutely LOVING my new Cricut Explore machine!!!!  This card's overall size is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, so the sentiment is only about 1" tall and look how perfectly it cut, and my mat is even an old one!  I can tell you if I had cut that on my Expression using that old mat, this would have been a wadded up mess!

Thank you for stopping by to visit today!  I hope you enjoyed my card.  Now please head over the The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and join in the fun!  You can find a challenge for every day of the week at The Outlawz!

My First Shaker Card

Good morning!  It's Team A's turn for this week's challenge at Tuesday Throwdown! We are sponsored this time by:

Our theme this week is Shake It Up! (make a Shaker Card)  I've wanted to make one for a long time, but just wasn't brave enough.  Then as it turned out, I made it harder on myself getting this one made!   I used this sweet little bear image called "Rhubarb Blocks" to make a new baby card.

I used 3 layers of the image and the shaker is cut through the card, to show on the inside, too.  The paper is from The Paper Studio.  The shaker is filled with little, tiny, multicolored seed beads I found at a yard sale.

The doilie cut is from Cricut's Paper Lace cartridge  and the sentiment is part of a wedding wooden stamp that I've had for ages.

I hope you'll check out all the great projects the rest of the team has made and join in the fun!

First Post with The Outlawz!

WooHoo!  It's finally time for my First Post with The Outlaws Twisted Thursday challenge!!

We are sponsored this week by

Challenges in our Twisted Thursday group are always Anything Goes with an Optional twist!  This week the twist is "Taking A Ride".

Lee generously gave us this cute digi to work with and here's what I made:

The background cut is from Cricut's Paper Lace cartridge. And the image and sentiment are on Spellbinders cuts.  The "Hi" are little letter stamps from The Paper Studio.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.  Just for fun, I colored the bike just like the one had as a kid, but mine had a banana seat!.  Do you remember those?  Mine was sparkly purple!  :o)

This stamp is from Stampendous.  This was a really fun card to make and I like the bright, happy colors!

I'd love to have you join our group at The Outlawz! You do have to become a member to join in the challenges, but it's free and you get welcomed by the designers!  There are new challenges every day of the week and lots of great sponsors and prizes.  Come join in the fun!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #132

It's time for a new challenge over at My Sheri Crafts!  this week Peachy chose the theme "In Celebration of Moms."  Create a project to celebrate that special woman in your life....or even yourself!

This butterfly background piece is from the Cricut Paper Lace cartridge, the labels are from Storybook and the sentiment is from Mother's Day 2010 cartridge. I added a little red ink to the pink cardstock cuts to make them stand out a little from the lighter paper and it matches the roses in the light side.  I love this pretty paper from K & Co!

That ribbon looks black, but it's really a nice dark brown that matches the paper almost perfectly!

I had a bit of trouble getting the sentiment cut.  I tried several different things but the "er's" just wouldn't seem to work.  I was left with a perfect "Happy Moth Day" cut, but I just couldn't figure out what to do with them!  Finally it dawned on me to change the blade and it cut perfectly!  Sometimes I'm just a little slow!

I hope you'll jump over to My Sheri Crafts to check out all the beautiful inspiration and join in the fun!

Creative Craft Challenge-New Beginnings

Welcome to my blog today!  I'm excited to post my first project as a new Design Team Member with Creative Craft Challenges

We are sponsored this time by Crafty Ribbons and our theme is "New Beginnings"!
I decided on a wedding card because just two days after being invited to join this team, I found out a friend of mine is getting married soon!  I'm so excited for her "new beginning"!!!

The frame and mat were cut from Paper Lace, using black glitter paper and silver shimmer paper.  The bride & groom are from Wedding and cut on white glitter paper.  The card base is Die Cuts With a View paper and the little tag is made from two sizes of a Spellbinders die.  The sentiment "From This Day Forward" I printed myself.

Inside I used the negative of the mat to frame the sentiment stamps.

The "Congratulations" stamp is from Stampabilities and the verse stamp is from CardzTV.  I recently won a set of their beautiful stamps over at Pause, Dream, Enjoy challenge blog.

Now it's your turn!  Come on over to Creative Craft Challenges and join in the fun! Be sure to check out the rest of the team's creations and let them know how great they are!  Can't wait to see what you create!

My Sheri Crafts #98 Grateful card

Good afternoon and Happy Saturday!  Welcome to challenge at My Sheri Crafts!  This week we are preparing for Thanksgiving...can you believe it's here already?!?  Join us with your project showing thanks.  Here's mine:

The border punch and the gems are from Martha Stewart.  All papers are scraps, except the card base.  The ribbon is brown sheer from Celebrate It.  I've weaved it into the border punch also.

This sentiment stamp is one of my favorite Studio G stamps.  I think it's so elegant!  The tag was a cut I found in my stash.  I think it was from Storybook cartridge.  The yellow layer is a Paper Lace cut, turned diagonally.

I ran the yellow intricate cut through my sticker maker and there was a lot of adhesive showing around the edges.  Instead of using the gum eraser to take off all of it in all those small cut outs, I just sprinkled some copper glitter over it to add a little sparkle the easy way!
The inside cut is preloaded on the Imagine.  I used Tim Holz distress inks in Antique Linen and Rusty Hinge on both the inside cut and the sentiment tag.

Thanks for stopping by and please be sure to check out all the great inspiration from my Design Team sisters!  They have created some things that will surely get your Mojo going!  Join us with your Thankful creations and maybe you will receive an Ooh-La-La award or be our next Guest Designer!  Have fun!

Simple Father's Day Card

Hello and Happy Saturday!!!  It's time for another challenge at My Sheri Crafts and this week we are recognizing Father's Day.  Let's Celebrate The Men In Our Lives!

My card is pretty simple, but I like the way it turned out.  It's made completely from scraps!

The background is made with  the negative pieces left on the mat after I cut a background page from Paper Lace.

I used a gold gel pen and doodled around each piece, then placed them on a diagonal.  The sentiment is backed by a scrap of shiny gold cardstock and then I used a Fiskars border punch across the bottom.  Easy Peasy!

So now it's your turn!  Celebrate your men and join us at My Sheri Crafts.  You just may be our next Guest Designer!

Ice Skate card from scraps

I sat down at my craft table yesterday wanting to make something, but no idea what.  I began to pick up some scraps to put away and realized they could work together pretty well.  Then I remembered a challenge this week to use the ice skate from the Winter Woodland cartridge.  I put it all together and Voila'!
The card measures 5 1/2" x 4 3/4".  The background paper is some I bought a couple of years ago on the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby.  There was no lable.  The embossed piece was a preformed card that I didn't get the folder on straight when I was making a Christmas card.   So I cut it up to use.  The folder is the Cuttlebug snowflakes.  The silver cutout you will see again in the next post.  The paper is from Die Cuts With a View, Textures and Patterns stack.  I cut this in 3 sizes to determine what I wanted for my card for this weeks My Sheri Crafts challenge.  It's a beautiful cut from Paper Lace, "Lace 2" feature.  This one is cut at 4" with a few I-Rock gems added.  I used glitter paper for the skate (cut at 2 1/2"), but didn't get a picture that shows the sparkle.  I cut the skate a 2nd time from the silver paper and just used the blade and the bow.

The "Grace" stamp is  Stampabilities and actually says "God's Grace" but I used a marker to only ink up "Grace".  The skate is pop-dotted, the edges are inked with Royal Blue and the inside is finished out with a strip of the blue patterned paper on a strip of the silver paper (scraps of my scraps!)

I hope you like it, I was pleased with how it turned out.  And it cleaned up my table a little more!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check back in a little bit for the new My Sheri Crafts challenge.  You'll see some great projects from the team again this week!

Happy Birthday Baby card

The challenge this week over at Saturday Designer's Challenge is to make a card for a baby.  Here's my take on it:
I really like the way this turned out.   The patterned paper is from Martha Stewart's Baby Boy pack.  The white mat has been embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.
The digi stamp is a free one I found several months ago that I can not locate now to give proper credit for.  I colored it with Crayola colored pencils.  The circles are cut with Creative Memories circle cutting system.
The sentiment is cut from Paper Lace at 1/2" and welded on my Gypsy.  I kind of blended in, so I outlined it with a dark green marker, then added some accents with a white gel pen.

The ribbon on the inside is baby blue swiss dot from Wal-Mart and the image is pop dotted with a very thin pop dot.  All edges are inked with Stampabilites Baby Blue.

I hope you like the card, I'm really pleased with it!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are getting ready for a great weekend!

5oth Anniversary Card

In checking out my usual challenge blogs this week I found one asking us to make a wedding/engagement card and one asking us to make a circle card.  I began to imagine this card and then I read our local paper and found some friends of ours are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend!  How perfect is that?

I used a flower cut from Paper lace cut at 5".  The top layer of the flower is cut from gold foil paper, the shadow cut is Die Cuts With A View white glitter paper.  (This paper is really thick and you need to use the deep cut blade and the 2x multi cut function if using a Cricut.)  Instead of layering the two pieces in the exact alignment, I turned the top layer a little to make the flower fuller.
The couple is from the Wedding cartridge, cut at 2" also in the glitter paper and the 50 is from Plantin Schoolbook cut at 3/4" and I used the skewer function on my Gypsy to give it a little "twist".  I also cut the couple in plain white paper and used pop dots to give it some dimension.

The base of this card is the same shadow cut of the flower in black textured cardstock and I welded two of them together on my Gypsy, then cut a white layer to write on.  The little cake embellishment is a Jolee's Boutique dimensional sticker--part of the goodies I won from Circle B.

I'm entering this card in these challenges:

Celebrate the Occasion #27

I hope you like the card, it has lots of sparkle & shine!  Thanks for stopping by, and keep safe from Hurricane Irene East Coast!!!!

Spring Fence Digi Stamp

Well, in my last post I told you about a super busy week, but SINCE then has been out of this world!  We had the Bull Riding Bible Camp (which was a huge success!) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Tim had another really bad week and ended up spending most of the camp in the RV, so after the camp was over our friends convinced us we needed to take some drastic steps, so we loaded up and headed to Minnesota and got him in to Mayo's St. Mary's hospital.  They did a lot of testing there and then released him to the Mayo Clinic.  Ultimately, we learned our doctor was right on target, but suggested a much more aggressive treatment plan  His Rheumatoid Arthritis is very active and we've got to get a hold on it soon.  We were gone all week on a last minute "wing & a prayer" and I NEVER do that!  I didn't have my plans or my lists and I felt totally disoriented!  But in the end, I'm very thankful we made the trip and we start the new treatment plan Monday.

This week, we started a month long Day Camp at our church for kids K-5.  We have 150 kids running around here 8:30-3:30 and I get to teach some of them scrapbooking and cardmaking!  Hopefully I will have pictures to post soon.

Anyway....on to my card I finally got to make this week.  This is for the Designed 2 Delight Challenge
with their "Spring Fence" stamp.  I really like this stamp!

I colored a second image and cut out the flower pots and pop dotted them to make them stand out in front of the flowers a little bit.

I used the Paper Lace Cricut cartridge and cut out the stamp with a shadow image and the "center point" function at 3", then cut a mat at 3 1'2".  The printed paper is from Martha Stewart; I colored the image with colored pencils and then chalked the "sky" and "grass".  The ribbon, paper flowers and brads are from my "ages old stash".  Somehow I forgot common card sizes and instead of making this one 5 x 6 1/2, I made it 5 1/2 x 6!  :-}  So it won't fit a standard card envelope and I'll have to cut one to fit.  Hmmm....more craft time!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
