A Couple of Contrasting Sympathy Cards

I made a couple of sympathy cards this weekend that I'd like to share with you.  They are both for the same couple, but one is from a women's club that the wife is a member of and the other is from a "Cowboy" Sunday School class of which they are both members.  See if you can figure out which is which!

This card is made with scraps!  The bottom layer is a burlap paper from the Paper Studio and the next layer and the banner are scraps of paper I printed from Cricut.  The banner is also a Cricut cut.  The horse is a sticker from Karen Foster Designs, mounted on a scrap of cream paper and inked.  The sentiment is made with Cricut's "Baby Steps fonts and welded, cut from the same cream paper scrap then inked.  I added a little bit of  sisal rope and inside I used a Stampabilities stamp that says "I thought of you today".

This card is made with scraps and freebies!  The stamp is from the latest issue of "Cardmaking and Papercraft" magazine, colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  The embossing folder is from the same issue and the printed paper is a freebie from an older issue.  Have I ever mentioned that I love that magazine?!?!  I lightly inked the edges of the white piece to really make the beautiful embossing stand out.  A little hand-tied sheer ribbon double bow and it's finished!

Thanks for stopping by and I think I'll see if I can join a few challenges this week.

Picture/Color Inspiration at Tuesday Throwdown

Helo and welcome!  Today is TeamA's turn for the new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown.  This week we are sponsored by:

http://www.winniewalter.com/

and we have a picture inspiration.  You can go by the image or the colors:

http://color.romanuke.com/page/160/

I used the sponsor's "The Big, The Bold and Comfort" stamp set for my card.

I really liked the look of the stamp set on the plastic, so I just inked up the whole thing for my background!  Then I used just the "Hope" stamp from the set.  A few Spellbinders diecuts, some ribbon and flowers and there you go!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Lord Gives Strength

This week at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday our theme is Anything Goes with the twist "Anything Goes!".  We are sponsored this month by

Stitchy Bear

This image is called "Tree On A Hill"

I used a distressing tool from Creative memories to rough up the edges of the image, then used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to antique it a bit. The burlap was a scrap piece left over from my candle projects that was just the right size.   The two different lables are Cricut cuts that I had in my stash, waiting to be used.

The outside stamp is from Just Rite and the inside stamp is from Close To My Heart.  The papers are all scraps and I LOVE it when i can use up stuff I've been saving!

Come on over to The Outlawz and check out the rest of the teams beautiful work and link up for a chance to win some great prizes!

Cherish The Memories

It's time for another challenge at The Outlawz.  Our sponsor this month is

As always, our challenge is Anything Goes With a Twist.  This week's twist is
"Gatefold Card".

Now Gatefolds are something I very rarely do, but really like.  Wonder why I don't do them more often?  Anyway, I made one this week with this image from Bugaboo.  I really love this image because it's so easy to color, or you could use it black and white and it's beautiful either way.

I typed up the sentiment on my computer and then cut it out on my Cricut with a cut from "Cricut Font and Basic Shapes".

I used all scraps on this card, except for the card base!  I love it when I get a lot of those scraps used up!

Come on over to The Outlawz Twisted Thursday and see all the beautiful inspiration there.  Be sure to join in and add your card to the inklinz for a chance at some great prizes!

Guest Design spot for Die Cuttin' Divas!

How exciting to be a Guest Designer for the Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge!  This week the challenge is a sketch and I love the sketch they are using:

and here's my take on it:

All papers and the lacy medallion are printed and cut with the Imagine cartridge "Lori's Garden".  The medallion is mounted on a Just Rite lacy circle stamp, which is then on a Spellbinders Lacy Circle cut.  I added a few gems and strip of ribbon.  Inside I used a sympathy stamp from My Sentiments Exactly.

Be sure to head over to Die Cuttin' Divas and check out all the great inspiration there and join us!

Hello!  Welcome and thank you for stopping by!  Today I have a card for our Tuesday Throwdown challenge, sponsored by Robyn's Fetish with a theme of Anything Goes!  I'll bet I see LOTS of you all there!

For this card I used Robyn's Fetish Lilly for a sympathy card:
This is mostly a one layer card, but I printed and colored a second copy of the lilly and pop-dotted it.  The sentiment, circle and border stamps are all from Just Rite.  The lilly is colord with Spectrum Noir markers

This inside sentiment is an "in and out" stamp from My Sentiments Exactly and I just used the "out" part of the stamp.

OK, now it's your turn!  Head on over to Tuesday Throwdown and join in the fun!

Card & Envelope set - Praying for You

It's time for a new challenge at My Sheri Crafts.  DT sister Sue has set a theme of "3 in a Row" and here's the chart:

I went with "Emboss, Pearls, Flowers" and made a card with matching envelope:

The Pearls are the gold "pearls" in the center of the flower.  I know I'm stretching a little bit on that, but hey, it was a hectic week and I had a major need to use my new toy, I mean tool!!!

I watched Darsie Bruno's Tuesday Tutorials using the We R Memory Keepers envelope board and decided I needed one of those!  You can see her great tutorials here and here.

The sentiment stamp and oval stamp are from Just Rite, plain ovals are cut with Creative Memories oval cutting system, fancy oval is Spellbinders.  The beautiful patterned paper is from Die Cuts With a View and I added a Prima flower and some Paper Studio flowers, half of a doilie and two ribbons from Wal-Mart.  The envelope is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

I love how this set came out and think I'll be making more!  Loving my new envelope board!!

I hope you will join in the fun at My Sheri Crafts this week!

Monochromatic Sympathy card

I found this card in my picture files that I hadn't shared yet.  I made this one for a friend who lost her Grandpa this Fall.  Very simple, but I thought it came out pretty.

I used a Stampibilities background stamp on a scrap of paper in my stash.  The flower is three Paper Studio flowers held together with a brad from Bo Bunny.  I used a distressing tool on the edges of the paper, then inked it.  A white feather completes it.

The inside stamp is also from Stampabilites (I think!)  :0)
Thanks for stopping by!

Entered here:

The Crafter's Cafe - monochromatic

Clear it Out - anything goes, any stash item (flowers. feather & brad)

Sympathy in Lavendar

Hello!  It's my turn to host the challenge at My Sheri Crafts. I figured there would be plenty of Halloween or Fall challenges this week so I went in a totally different direction.  I chose the theme "A Little Comfort" - make a Sympathy or Thinking of You card. This is one type of card I don't keep on hand and always seem to scramble to make when I need one.  This one, however, came together pretty well and is made all from scraps.
The sentiment stamp is from "My Sentiments Exactly" and is a inside and out set.  I added a little bling with my I-Rock and a ribbon from Wal-Mart.
I inked the inside by masking the center with a scalloped oval cut and applied the ink directly to somewhat mimic the purple paper used on the outside.
Just a simple card, but I'm pleased with the results.

I hope you will join in with us this week, but first be sure to stop by My Sheri Crafts and see the beautiful creations from the rest of the team!

Thanks for stopping in and I hope you enjoyed the visit!

Tuesday Throwdown Paper Piecing

Hello Blogland Friends!  It's Tuesday and that means we're throwing down another challenge at Tuesday Throwdown!  This week we are Paper Piecing and are sponsored by:
Fred, She Said Designs .... The Store
Tracy was sweet enough to let our Design Team A each choose one item from her store to use for this weeks challenge.  I LOVED looking through her store and finally settled on this flower, V6 Daisy, to make a sympathy card.

I matted the flower on a couple of ovals from Spellbinders fancy ovals die cuets.  The lace I've added is a gift from another DT Buddie.  I felt like it was just what this card needed!  I added a simple brown glitter brad.

Isn't that cool?!?  Just look at all this layering!  I had so much fun looking through her store.  There's a ton of great stuff there!  This flower pattern also has frame borders to match, but I didn't use them this time.  Be on the lookout for this flower again with the matching borders.

I added a sentiment stamp from Stampin' Up, then hand cut it and the mat for it.  The card base is cut to 5x7 from Anna Griffin paper.

The inside is finished out with some oatmeal colored paper on a Kraft paper mat.  I used a Martha Stewart corner punch and a stamp from Stampabilities.
Well, now it's your turn.  Show us your Paper Piecing projects and have fun!  Can't wait to see what you create!
