God Bless America Floating Frame

This week at The Outlawz Twisted Thursday we are sponsored by the fantastic  Sponsor Stitchy Bear

As always our theme is "Anything Goes with a Twist" and this week the twist is Music Inspired.
My project is inspired by the song "God Bless America" and I've used our sponsor's digi "Flag Girl"
in making a "Floating Frame".

The frame sentiment is cut from Cricut's |Stand and Salute cartridge, the background paper is a sheet of flag stationery.  I added some neat ribbon and some old earrings.  The picture is my dad in his WWII Navy uniform.
I'm really going to enjoy hanging this one up this year as we celebrate our nation's freedom and my dad's contribution to it!

Come on over and join us this week!

Stars and Stripes - Tuesday Throwdown #154

Hello!  Welcome back!  It's time for another throwdown with Tuesday Throwdown.  We are sponsored this week by Robyn's Fetish and our theme is "Stars and Stripes".  I used Robyn's Fetish Apple Pie digi and had a lot of fun with this card.

I love the bright colors of this and that ribbon!

I think this is the first time I've used vinyl on a card.

Does anyone else walk around with your head down and pick up stuff people have dropped 'cause you "just might be able to use that"?  I found this star in the parking lot about 2 years ago!  Finally found the perfect spot for it!

More vinyl on the inside.

Supply list:
Markers - Spectrum Noir
USA - Stand & Salute
Celebrate - Gypsy Wanderings
Scalloped square - Lacy Labels
Paper - The Paper Studio
Doily - paper doily from my mom's stash
Embossing folder - Cuttlebug Stars
Ribbon - The Ribbon Factory
Glossy Accents

Now this challenge subject is an easy one, so there should be lots of you joining in this week.  Head on over the Tuesday Throwdown and check out the rest of the team's great inspiration with some really fun images from Robyn's Fetish!

Texas Longhorn theme baby shower!?!

I have a great friend who is having a baby boy! Congrats Curtis & Barbie!!! I had told Barbie I would help with her baby shower decorations back when she first told me she was pregnant. I was a little surprised, though, when I found out last month that she wanted to use Texas Longhorns in the decorations. I hadn't thought about that. But, it got the imagination and creativity going! So here are some pictures of what I came up with:
These "diaper bags" were for the nuts and placed on the tables. They were cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. The "toys" inside are from New Arrival.

The banner flags are from Stand And Salute, the onesies and animals are from New Arrival and the longhorn head is from Old West. I had to cut the whole steer and behead the poor things!

"Onesie Confetti"

And the "Diaper Cake"! Who needs a stork when you have a Longhorn?
:-)

I had LOTS of help with this from my granddaughters, Kaylee and Lexi. Thanks girls! I couldn't have gotten it all done without your help! Oh, and Barbie really liked the decorations!

Thanks for stopping by. This week I'm working on albums for some kids at a camp for abused and neglected children.

Independence Day card

Hello Again!  Today I have  an Independence Day card that I will use for a couple of challenges and then include it with the "Thank You Soldier" cards that our scrapbooking groups made at Daycamp this month.

The card base is 4 /14 x 5 1/2 and is from Hobby Lobby.  I cut the flag from"Stand and Salute" cartridge at 4".  That sizing made it too long for the card.  I could have used the Gypsy to resize it, but it was recharging upstairs and I was just too lazy to go up and get it!  So I just cut off the excess.   The fireworks burst is from the same cart. cut at 1 1/4".  The kids are from "A Child's Year" cut at 2 1/4"  I used my white gel pen to draw the stars, inked the edges and it's ready to go!

I'm entering this card in these challenges:
Creative Cutter Room Design Time Thursday
My Sheri Crafts Challenge

Thanks for stopping by!

Disney Birthday

For Wyatt's 1st birthday decorations I made a banner and Disney characters to stand on the table.
I made stands for the characters like we used to make for our paper dolls.  I stood these on the table around the cake.
The flags were cut from Stand & Salute at 6", the background cut at 6.75".  The letters are from Disney Pooh Font cut in yellow at 2.75". I intended to shadow them, but cut the black the same size as the yellow, so I offset the black instead and decided I really liked that better.
It doesn't show up very well with this dark background, but I used yarn to attach the banner to Mickey's hand and Pluto's tail.
This picture shows the fun texture of the banner.  I used the Cuttlebug embossing dyes, Circles and Swiss Dots.  Next time I make one, I need to secure each flag together better.  Using just scrapbook adhesive, they came apart easily from the weight.  I'll probably use brads to connect them.  I'm still learning!
