Red, White & Blue Birthday Card

This card is for a friend who is very patriotic and her birthday is close to the 4th.  I hope she likes it, it was really fun to make!

The background paper is a mat stack I've had for a long time.  I know I got it from Hobby Lobby, but don't remember the brand.  The boy in the car is from "A Child's Year" cut at 2 1/2".  I inked the edges of the card with royal blue.

Again, I love pop-dots!

The tag is from "Tags, Bags, Boxes and More".  I tried several sizes, and am not sure which size this one is.  The stamp is from Studio G and the "ink" is Studio G's chalk ink.  I'm loving that stuff.  It shows up in color on even the darkest cardstock.  The "ribbon" is actually a strip of red cardstock that stuck on my cutting mat and came off in layers.  I usually hate it when that happens, but this time I could use it!

A quick finishing touch on the inside and voila!  And the coolest thing is, except for the star mat, this was all cut from scraps!

I'll be entering this card in the following challenges:
Birthday Sundaes Stars & Stripes Challenge ( I hope it counts that my stripe is on the inside)
Designed 2 Delight Saturday Challenge
My Craft Spot
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday

Have a great day!!!

Independence Day card

Hello Again!  Today I have  an Independence Day card that I will use for a couple of challenges and then include it with the "Thank You Soldier" cards that our scrapbooking groups made at Daycamp this month.

The card base is 4 /14 x 5 1/2 and is from Hobby Lobby.  I cut the flag from"Stand and Salute" cartridge at 4".  That sizing made it too long for the card.  I could have used the Gypsy to resize it, but it was recharging upstairs and I was just too lazy to go up and get it!  So I just cut off the excess.   The fireworks burst is from the same cart. cut at 1 1/4".  The kids are from "A Child's Year" cut at 2 1/4"  I used my white gel pen to draw the stars, inked the edges and it's ready to go!

I'm entering this card in these challenges:
Creative Cutter Room Design Time Thursday
My Sheri Crafts Challenge

Thanks for stopping by!

Fun Sun Card

Well, we have finished up week 3 of our Day Camp at church.  It was time for me to get to my craft room!!!

I have had this card idea in my head for most of the week and finally got to see if I could make it a reality.  It came out pretty much as I kept picturing it.  I hope you like it.
The sun is cut from Doodle Charms at 1 3/4".  I cut my color blocks and placed them together on the cutting mat.  Using the center point feature I placed the blade at the "intersection" of the 4 pieces and cut.  The cute face is from Peachy Keen and the patterned paper is from K & Company.

The color blocks are pop-dotted and the sentiment stamp is from Michaels $1 bin.

I'm entering this card in the Getting Crickey Simply Sunday Face It Challenge and Fantabulous Cricut Summer Fun Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

Summer Daycamp 2011

Again, it's been a long time since I posted.  We went to Springfield for Tim's treatment last week and he had a serious reaction this time.  His blood pressure bottomed out and he passed out.  So he is no longer eligible for that medicine.  So today we started a new med and the treatment went perfect!  Hopefully now we will begin to see some results!

I have a few pictures of our daycamp scrapbooking projects today.

These albums are made from lunch sacks.  I found the video to make them on You Tube, but can't find the exact one now. :(  There are lots of them to choose from.  All we did, though was trim off the rough ends of the bags, fold the bottoms of the bags over and glue them together.  With 4 sets of these we added our paper, made a cover that we shut with 2 lightweight velcro sticky circles, then punched 2 holes in the ends and tied them with a ribbon.

With the bags open you can see that we added tags in some and left others for the kids to put memorabilia in.

The finished "page" sizes are 5 1/8 x 7 1/8 and the small ones are 5 1/8th x 3 1/4".  To make the cover we cut 2 sheets, one at 12" x 5 1/4" and one at 4" x 5 1/4".  I scored the 12" piece at 7 1/4" and 7 5/8" to fold nicely around the ends of the sacks.  One thing I learned was that textured carstock breaks at the folds!  You need to use regular cardstock for the covers.

Thanks for coming by, have a great day!

Spring Fence Digi Stamp

Well, in my last post I told you about a super busy week, but SINCE then has been out of this world!  We had the Bull Riding Bible Camp (which was a huge success!) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Tim had another really bad week and ended up spending most of the camp in the RV, so after the camp was over our friends convinced us we needed to take some drastic steps, so we loaded up and headed to Minnesota and got him in to Mayo's St. Mary's hospital.  They did a lot of testing there and then released him to the Mayo Clinic.  Ultimately, we learned our doctor was right on target, but suggested a much more aggressive treatment plan  His Rheumatoid Arthritis is very active and we've got to get a hold on it soon.  We were gone all week on a last minute "wing & a prayer" and I NEVER do that!  I didn't have my plans or my lists and I felt totally disoriented!  But in the end, I'm very thankful we made the trip and we start the new treatment plan Monday.

This week, we started a month long Day Camp at our church for kids K-5.  We have 150 kids running around here 8:30-3:30 and I get to teach some of them scrapbooking and cardmaking!  Hopefully I will have pictures to post soon.

Anyway....on to my card I finally got to make this week.  This is for the Designed 2 Delight Challenge
with their "Spring Fence" stamp.  I really like this stamp!

I colored a second image and cut out the flower pots and pop dotted them to make them stand out in front of the flowers a little bit.

I used the Paper Lace Cricut cartridge and cut out the stamp with a shadow image and the "center point" function at 3", then cut a mat at 3 1'2".  The printed paper is from Martha Stewart; I colored the image with colored pencils and then chalked the "sky" and "grass".  The ribbon, paper flowers and brads are from my "ages old stash".  Somehow I forgot common card sizes and instead of making this one 5 x 6 1/2, I made it 5 1/2 x 6!  :-}  So it won't fit a standard card envelope and I'll have to cut one to fit.  Hmmm....more craft time!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
