A Little Bling

Happy (early.......REALLY early) Birthday to me!!!  My birthday isn't until Dec. 19th, but  my sweet husband asked me what I would like for my birthday, while I was looking at the Wal-Mart Black Friday ad.  So I said I would like this Cricut Imagine here and he said OK!!!  I was really surprised!!! So I went to my very first Black Friday door buster and parked myself at the correct spot to get the one and only Imagine that our store got in!

I cut a few images to start getting familiar with it and ended up with this card:
It needed something, but I wasn't sure what.  Then I remembered seeing a challenge titled "A Little Bling" and I decided that was exactly what it needed.

What a difference a little bling makes!

These images are from Imagine More cartridge.  The paper is from Martha Stewart.

Not too bad for a first attempt!  There are a coupld of cartridges that when I saw them I thought "If I ever get an Imagine, I've got to have that cartridge!"  Well, they should be here by the weekend!  LOL!!  I'll show you some projects with them as soon as possible!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

A Quick Card for a Friend

Today I have a card I made for a friend who is ill.  My husband asked me to make a card one Saturday that he needed to take to his Sunday School class the next morning so everyone could sign it.  Here's what I came up with:

The paper is from Die Cuts with A View Textures and Finishes stack and the stamp is Stampabilities.  As you can see the 2nd layer is shiny silver foil paper from the same stack.

I scrunched up the sentiment mat and inked it with Stampabilities ink.
These charms are from the stash of embellishments I bought from a friend who wanted to sell all of her supplies.  You can also kind of see the great texture on this paper.  This is a really nice stack.

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a great Sunday!

I didn't create this card with any challenges in mind, but it fit perfectly with the "Last Minute" challenge at Cricut Creative Cutter Room!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #74

I hope you had a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving and enjoyed every minute of time with your family.  If  you went shopping, I hope you were successful and safe!  I very much enjoyed my time with Tim's family on Thursday and will be spending time with my family as this post goes up. Well, now, on with the show!!

It's time to Decorate For Christmas at My Sheri Crafts!  What a fun challenge!  No cards this time, just Christmas ornaments or home decor.  I decided to make a Christmas version of the tag decor I posted earlier.

The tags are again cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More at 6" and they are cut from recycled cardboard....a Bisquick box this time!  :)  I used a deep cut blade and multi cut 2x.

This tag is from Potpourri Basket cut a t 2" and "Merry Christmas" is from Calligraphy and 1 1/2".  The shiny paper is a silver foil paper from My Minds Eye.
The trees and the church are from Christmas seasonal cartridge and the star is from Joys of the season.  I used white glitter glue on the trees.  Really, it's white, not green like it looks in the picture! ;)

I used white glitter cardstock for the snow layers on the church and for the ground snow I used a 12" glitter border strip and tore it in half.  The background is a basic blue cardstock from my stash.  All other papers are from my scraps.  Then I used a light spritz of spray on glitter and it kind of looks like it really is snowing!

I really had fun with this and I hope you have fun making your projects, too.  So now, get crackin' and show us your Christmas ornaments or decor 'cause the season is officially here!!!!

Thanksgiving Decor

I saw a super cute project on our challenge at My Sheri Crafts using tags and you can see it here.  I decided I wanted to use that same idea for Thanksgiving and here is my project:
The tags are all cut at 6" from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and I used old cereal boxes for them.  The banner is from Potpourri Basket and "Blessings" is from Cindy Loo, and I used a shiny copper paper on them.

The other cuts are from Doodlecharms, My World, Savory, Disney Princess Happily Ever After, Joys of the Season, Botanicals, Disney Pooh & Friends and Paper Doll Dress Up.  Thank goodness for my Gypsy so I could arrange the paper and cut everything at one time!  I used up a ton of scraps on this, which was great.

I wanted a little sparkle, so I used spray glitter from Hobby Lobby.  It looks a little too glittery in this pic, but it doesn't sparkle quite that much under normal lighting.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  I think I'll make a Christmas one, too!  Just a little funny story about this one.  When I decided to make it, I had it pictured sitting on top of my t.v. and in my mind it looked great there!  Perfect spot!   When I got it finished and took the pictures I hurried upstairs and as I stepped into the living room I remembered......we have a new t.v that is one of those flat, thin screens.  There is NO WAY anything can sit on top of that t.v.!  Man, I was disappointed, aggravated and a little embarrassed that I had forgotten that!  So, now it's sitting on a table in the corner, under a lamp.  Oh well, it's still a nice project!  :-)

Happy Birthday Baby card

The challenge this week over at Saturday Designer's Challenge is to make a card for a baby.  Here's my take on it:
I really like the way this turned out.   The patterned paper is from Martha Stewart's Baby Boy pack.  The white mat has been embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.
The digi stamp is a free one I found several months ago that I can not locate now to give proper credit for.  I colored it with Crayola colored pencils.  The circles are cut with Creative Memories circle cutting system.
The sentiment is cut from Paper Lace at 1/2" and welded on my Gypsy.  I kind of blended in, so I outlined it with a dark green marker, then added some accents with a white gel pen.

The ribbon on the inside is baby blue swiss dot from Wal-Mart and the image is pop dotted with a very thin pop dot.  All edges are inked with Stampabilites Baby Blue.

I hope you like the card, I'm really pleased with it!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are getting ready for a great weekend!

One Layer Card

The challenge this week over at Less Is More is to make a one layer card with leaves.  Here is mine:
I wanted some Fall colors in the leaves without going to a lot of work, so I mixed some embossing powders in dark green, light green and brown, plus some gold glitter.  The  various colors don't show up in the picture, but they actually show up very subtley.
I really like the sparkle mixed in!  Both stamps are from Stampabilities.

Inside I used the same vine stamp, without embossing or glitter.
Hope you like it, and thanks for stopping by!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #73

Hello and Happy Saturday to you!  It's time for another challenge at My Sheri Crafts!  This week it's all about "Be Thankful" - create a card/project with a Thanksgiving or Thank You theme.  I went with the Thank You theme in thanking God for my friends and family.

This is an A2 size card cut from a deep wine colored cardstock.  The patterned paper is from My Minds Eye, the stamp is Stampabilities, butterflies are from Stickopotamus and the bling from Imaginisce.  I embossed the sentiment mat with a Cuttlebug folder.

The sentiment is actually stamped on a light blue paper that matches the blue flower you can see here.  It looks white in the pictures...don't know why!

All edges were inked with French Blue from Stampabilities and the sentiment was pop dotted.

As this post goes up, I will be in Branson with my M-I-L, S-I-L, daughter and niece for our annual girls weekend.  We eat out, spend the night, eat out, shop and eat out some more!  :) It's a wonderful time to have fun together, get started on our Christmas shopping and draw closer as family and that makes it another thing I'm thankful for!

Thanks for stopping by, now get crafting and join us with all your Thankfulness at My Sheri Crafts!  Can't wait to see your creations!

Thank Heaven for Little Girls and New Blog Design

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  I hope you are having a beautiful day!  How about a big Yee Haw for this new blog design?  My friend Sheri at My Sheri Crafts created this for me.  I love it!  Didn't she do great?

I would like to share with you a layout I made of my girls and my hubby.  One rainy afternoon the girls wanted to help their Pa get into the house dry, so they waited for him with umbrellas in hand.  I suspect they really wanted to play with the umbrellas more than they were concerned about their Pa getting wet! :)

I made the umbrella border from A Child's Year in various pieces of scrap paper.   I think I cut them at 1 1/2" - not sure now.

I wrote the sentiment with a marker, after practicing several times!  These two are pop dotted.  I kind of wish I had use pop dots on one or two in the top border, but I guess it's o.k.!

All the white accents are made with a white gel pen.

This was a really fun layout, love all the color.  I had it pictured in my head pretty much this way and I'm pleased with the result.  Hope  you like it!  Thanks for stopping by!

Playing with new colored pencils!

I'm not very good at shading with markers so I like to use colored pencils, but I never could get anything but soft colors and wanted something brighter, closer to shades you get with markers.  One of my friends showed me her Crayola Colored pencils and they seemed a lot brighter.  So of course I had to buy some too!  I  printed off various digi stamps and played around coloring them and I liked the way this one turned out, so I made a card with it.

The digi stamp is from Digi Darla Stamp Club, the patterned paper is Anna Griffin, stamped sentiment is Stampabilities, butterfly stickers from Stickopotamus and bling is Imaginisce.  I used my new I-Rock that I won from Cathie at Creative Cutter Room!  What a fun tool!  The circles are cut with Creative Memories circle cutting set.
There's a little bling on her hat bow from my stash, too.  I really like how these pencils have so much brighter color.  Still not as vivid as markers, but if I don't figure out how to do shadowing with markers, I'll stick primarily to pencils.  There's an "Extreme Color" set, too, that I'm gonna try!

A little inking, a little pop dotting, finish the inside and there you go!  The colors look more Spring than Fall, but I had this scrap piece that was a good size to make an A2 card, so I went with it!
