My First "Screen" Card

We have a new challenge this week at Tuesday Throwdown and our theme is "Create Your Own Background".  I've created the background on the inside of my card.

I'm excited to share this card with you today!  I saw these super cute "Screen Cards" in the Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine and I decided I could recreate those in Design Space.  Here's the magazine picture:

And after much pasting, slicing and dicing, here is my first one:

I love how it turned out and it was so fun!  I've created the background on the inside with a foam daisy stamp that I randomly stamped on my paper before cutting it for the panels.  The poem on the left was done with the writing feature of the Cricut.  Super easy and perfect for my card!  All the diecuts are Cricut images.  The poem says:  "Mother's love is peace.  It need not be acquired.  It need not be deserved."  by Erich Fromm.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mother's Day is coming!

This week at My Sheri Crafts Sandy has challenged us to "Make A Girly Card".

I used some scraps that were on my worktable to get started on this one.  The blue medallion is a Spellbinder's die, the scalloped circle is a Cricut cut.  They're mounted on some handmade floral paper with a strip of sheer yellow ribbon.  The "Mom" cut is from Cricut's Mother's Day 2010 cartridge.  The flowers were in a yard sale find and I finished it off with a bow of sheer pink ribbon.

I hope you'll join us with your girlishness!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hi Folks!  It's my turn to choose the theme for our new challenge at My Sheri Crafts this week and I chose "April Showers Bring May Flowers" - use at least 3 flowers on your project.

This frame is cut from the Cindy Loo Cricut cartridge.   I cut it twice, enlarging the second one just a bit and then another cut of the birdhouse.  The flowers are all from my stash, most Paper Studio I believe. The sentiment is a cut from Mother's Day 2010 cartridge.

That's it!  Now it's your turn!

I've entered this card here:

Fantabulous Cricut - Celebrate Moms
The Crafter's Cafe - mom or special lady

Froggy Mother's Day

Hello!  It's time for another Tuesday Throwdown challenge and our theme is "Special Lady".  Our sponsor is the wonderful  Robyn's Fetish.  She has SO MANY great images to choose from.  I chose to use "Five Little Froggies" to make a Mother's Day card for my mother-in-law.  She collects frogs and in addition to having them placed around the house, she has a 4 shelf curio cabinet that is absolutely FULL of frogs!  So I'm hoping she likes this card!

I just think these frogs are so cute and I've always loved wishing wells, so it's a perfect combination!  I also like the contrast of this green foil paper with the burlap ribbon.  I created the sentiments on my computer using "Comic" font.

Supply list:  The Paper Studio - green foil paper and burlap flower
Offray - burlap ribbon
Sissix - leaf die cut
Spellbinders - labels
Imaginisce - Irock gems
Spectrum Noir - markers

Thank you for stopping by and visiting today! Please leave me a note and I hope you will come on over to Tuesday Throwdown and join in the fun!  See ya there!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #132

It's time for a new challenge over at My Sheri Crafts!  this week Peachy chose the theme "In Celebration of Moms."  Create a project to celebrate that special woman in your life....or even yourself!

This butterfly background piece is from the Cricut Paper Lace cartridge, the labels are from Storybook and the sentiment is from Mother's Day 2010 cartridge. I added a little red ink to the pink cardstock cuts to make them stand out a little from the lighter paper and it matches the roses in the light side.  I love this pretty paper from K & Co!

That ribbon looks black, but it's really a nice dark brown that matches the paper almost perfectly!

I had a bit of trouble getting the sentiment cut.  I tried several different things but the "er's" just wouldn't seem to work.  I was left with a perfect "Happy Moth Day" cut, but I just couldn't figure out what to do with them!  Finally it dawned on me to change the blade and it cut perfectly!  Sometimes I'm just a little slow!

I hope you'll jump over to My Sheri Crafts to check out all the beautiful inspiration and join in the fun!

Simple Mother's Day Card

Hello!  Happy Weekendeve!  Saturday is National scrapbooking day!  Do you have special crafting plans?  I'm afraid I don't, but I'm hoping to get some crafting time in anyway.

I actually turned on the air conditioner this afternoon.  I have my grandson and he loves for me to rock him for his nap and we were sweating rivers!  I would much rather pay the electric bill than miss that time in the rocking chair, so on it came.

I have another Mother's Day card today.  This one has some recycling in it.  Can you pick it out?
Yes, the white background is that plastic web stuff a ham or whole chicken comes in.  I thought that kind of reminded me of the chicken wire my Grandma used to put around some of her flowers.  Anyone else remember that?  These flowere were included in some blog candy I won several months ago.  I took them out of the package and added them to the drawer of the rest of my flowers, so I don't know the name.
This "Mom" cut is from the Mother's Dy 2010 cartridge.

The beautiful digi is from Designed 2 Delight.  It's one of my favorites and colored with colored pencils.

This card isn't anything fancy, but it was fun to try something new and I like the end result.    Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #84-Mother's Day Card

Hello!  Welcome to another challenge at My Sheri Crafts!  This week it's "April Showers Bring May Flowers to Mom!"  Create a Mother's Day Card/Project and Add Flowers.

Here's my card:

The card base is from the Life's A Beach cartridge, card feature.  I cut the sentiment from Mother's Day 2010, added some I-Rock gems and a bow.  The edges are softend up a little bit with some pink chalk.

The sentiment is pop dotted and I added some gel pen doodling.

The flower layers are only glued in the center so the edges could be curled.

This is a  Just Rite stamp and some more I-Rock gems and the edges are chalked.

Pretty simple but I really like the finished look. I hope my MIL will like it, too!    Now get your flower-power on and join us!  You just may be our next Guest Designer or win an Ooh-la-la Award!

This card is entered here:
Paper Craft World - Bling
Krafty Girls - Dear Mother
Tuesday Throwdown - Use Bling
CASual Fridays - Spring; use flowers or trees
